Frequently Asked Questions
We'd love for guests to wear Indian festive attire — it's the perfect excuse to dress up! Each event has its own vibe: • Haldi (10:30 AM): Wear white or yellow clothes you don't mind getting stained with turmeric — it will happen and it's part of the fun! • Baraat Procession (3 PM): Traditional Indian festive — sherwanis, sarees, or lehengas. • Wedding Ceremony (4 PM, Alfresco): Traditional Indian formal — sarees, lehengas, anarkalis, sherwanis, or suits. Avoid all white (reserved for the bride's family traditions). • Reception (8 PM, Ballroom): Cocktail or formal — Indian or Western. Time to sparkle!

Flying In from Abroad
Additional info for international guests
Most nationalities (including US, UK, Canada, Australia, and EU countries) can apply for an e-Tourist Visa online at the official Government of India portal: indianvisaonline.gov.in. Applications are typically processed within 2–5 business days. We strongly recommend applying at least 2–3 weeks before your travel date. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date and have at least 2 blank pages. Important: only use the official government portal — there are many fraudulent third-party websites.
International guests should plan to arrive on December 28th, 2026 — the day before the wedding. We have a room block at The Leela for the nights of Dec 28th and Dec 29th. Arriving a day early means you'll be rested and ready for a full day of celebrations on Dec 29th!
Fly into Ahmedabad (AMD) — Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, which is approximately 30 minutes from The Leela Gandhinagar. Most international guests will connect through major hubs such as Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Dubai (DXB), or London (LHR).
We are coordinating group transportation from Ahmedabad airport. Please share your flight details on the Flying In page so we can arrange pickups. More details to follow closer to the date.
India uses Indian Rupees (INR). Cards (Visa, Mastercard) are widely accepted at The Leela and most restaurants and shops. It's still handy to have some cash for tips, local markets, auto-rickshaws, and smaller purchases. ATMs are widely available at the airport and in the city. You can also exchange currency at the airport on arrival.
Absolutely — Gujarat is a spectacular destination! Consider extending your trip to explore: Ahmedabad (a UNESCO World Heritage City with incredible architecture, the Sabarmati Ashram, and vibrant street food), the Rann of Kutch (vast white salt desert — breathtaking in winter), Gir National Park (the only place on earth with wild Asiatic lions), and Rani ki Vav (an exquisite ancient stepwell, a UNESCO site).
